I am located in Sonoma County, about an hour north of San Francisco. My studio is small but I find that it is a place where all stress and anxiety fade away as soon as I walk through the door. Working with clay connects me to the creative force. Clay is the perfect medium for me as it is so forgiving. If the piece isn't working out the way I planned, I can always reconstitute the clay and use it again. The possibilities are literally endless for exploration with clay and glazes and various firing methods.
I want my pieces to be comfortable and approachable for the end user. I like to make simple objects that are reminders of the beauty to be found in the organic world. I enjoy gardening and I like to create pieces that allow the serenity of the natural world to inform our daily lives.
I was fortunate to be able to go to Italy several years ago where I learned about Maiolica. I fell in love with the process which requires a smooth earthenware clay and a white glaze made with tin that is then decorated with underglazes and oxides. I like to be able to express my whimsical side and make animals dressed in robes - (see the Garden Guardians page), as well as fairy houses and other non-functional pieces.
Please call or email if you would like to order anything shown here.
Most pieces are food safe as well as dishwasher and microwave safe.
